A 38-year-old man was arrested by the Chandanagar police and the Special Operations Team (SOT) from Madhapur for allegedly supplying alprazolam to adulterate soft foods. During the intervention, the officers secured 1,170 grams of the substance.
The accused has been identified as Goundla Bala Murali Krishna of Vemana Reddy Colony in Chandanagar. Two other suspects, Ravi Teja and Sai Sudhakar, are absconding.
DCP Madhapur Ritiraj said Murali Krishna was nabbed at his residence following a tip-off. “Along with Sudhakar and others, he allegedly ran a toddy shop at Doulatabad village in Hathnoora mandal of Medak. During interrogation, he confessed that he had procured Alprazolam from Ravi Teji of Podichanpally village in Papannapet mandal at ₹3 million per kilogram. His car and mobile phone were seized,” the police officer said.
