Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu launched the ‘Raitanna Meekosam’ program at Ghantasala village in Avanigadda constituency on Monday, joined by MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad. The initiative is part of the government’s five-point strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector and support the overall development of farmers.
The minister said the program focuses on water security, demand-driven crop planning, wider use of modern agricultural technologies, expansion of food processing and sustained government support to make agriculture profitable and resilient. The program will run from November 24 to 29 and will be followed by workshops at Rythu Seva Kendras on December 3 where farmers will be trained in advanced practices and financial preparedness.
Emphasizing the importance of water management, he recalled the irrigation measures taken by NT Rama Rao and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, adding that the Krishna delta has not experienced water shortage for nearly a decade. He urged farmers to adopt demand-driven crops like ragi, jowar and bajra and highlighted the role of mechanization and drone technology in improving efficiency.
Mr. Atchannaidu also demanded more food processing units to improve farmers’ income. Responding to political criticism, he cited support of nearly ₹ 1,000 crore given to farmers during the price distress period. The event was attended by senior officials, local farmers and coalition leaders.
