Hundreds of devotees from across Telangana gathered on Sunday to mark the 350th Anointing Day of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, in a mass gathering at the municipal land in Chilkalguda, Sitaphalmandi.
The celebrations were part of the week-long celebration of the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, from November 23 to 30. Guru Tegh Bahadur is recognized worldwide for his sacrifice in defense of human dignity, religious freedom and the rights of the oppressed. Religious processions and mass gatherings will be organized throughout the week to pay tribute to his legacy.

Organized by the organizing committees of Gurudwara Saheb Sitaphalmandi, Secunderabad, in collaboration with Sikh gurudwaras across Telangana, the event witnessed a soulful recitation of the hymn and the traditional ‘Guru-Ka-Langara’ served by devotees sitting together in rows to symbolize equality and brotherhood, the basic tenets of Sikh philosophy.
The speakers emphasized the core values of Sikhism, including truth, compassion, equality and social harmony, and reaffirmed the message of peace and brotherhood taught by Guru Nanak Dev and the Sikh Gurus.
