The body of a 52-year-old man was found washed ashore at Papanasam beach in Varkala on Sunday.
The Ayiroor police identified the deceased as Bina of Pazhayachanth. The body was first spotted by a group of fishermen early in the morning while they were out at sea and then alerted the coastal police.
Ayiroor police soon launched an investigation to find out if anyone was reported missing within the station limits and subsequently identified the deceased.
Preliminary investigation revealed that there was a dispute between Binu and his wife in their house before his disappearance. Binu was later found to be missing and no further information about his whereabouts emerged until the discovery of the body.
