“Two persons have been arrested for allegedly hurling petrol bombs at the RSS office in Jharkhand’s Ranchi,” police said on Thursday (Jun 18, 2026).

“The two accused were arrested from Lohardaga district late on Wednesday (June 17, 2026) and the car they were using was seized,” a police officer said.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) claimed that petrol bombs were hurled at its office in Nivaranpur area early on Wednesday, prompting the police to form a special investigation team to probe the matter.

“Two persons have been arrested in connection with the case. They are being questioned,” Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Ranjan told PTI. During the investigation, the police recovered shards of glass bottles at the scene.

“A forensics team visited the site to ascertain the contents of the bottles,” police said. A bomb detection and disposal squad also visited the RSS office. “The contents of the bottles are probably petrol,” another officer said, adding that “no explosive like an IED or bomb was found”.
