A federal appeals court on Saturday refused to clear the way for US President Donald Trump’s administration to expand an expedited deportation process that would allow for the speedy removal of migrants who live far from the border.
A 2-1 panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit declined to set aside a major part of a lower court judge’s ruling that found the administration’s policy violated the due process rights of migrants who can be detained anywhere in the United States.
