The Kadur tahsildar filed a police complaint against 11 government employees at the Kadur taluk office for allegedly sanctioning old-age pensions to 64 ineligible candidates, causing a loss of ₹9.03 lakh to the exchequer. The accused sanctioned pensions to persons under the age of 60, thereby violating the scheme’s criteria.
The accused are Shirastedar BC Kalmuradappa, Second Division Assistant P. Girish, Revenue Inspector PR Ravi Kumar, Village Accountant R. Hanumanthappa, TM Kavya, GM Kumara, K. Lingaraju, KR Ravi, SM Channabasayya., TS Nirmala and Gogichandra S. Ravichandra. The Kadur police have registered a case filed by tahsildar CS Poornima on charges of criminal breach of trust by a public servant and forgery.
As part of the old-age pension system, people from families below the poverty line and people over 60 are entitled to a pension. However, the accused granted preferential treatment to people in their thirties, thus abusing his authority.
Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner Meena Nagaraj suspended Kalmurudappa and ordered an inquiry after receiving complaints of irregularities. The inquiry found that 64 ineligible people were sanctioned by favoring the scheme, causing a loss of ₹9.03 lakh to the exchequer. On the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, the Kadur tahsildar lodged a complaint.
