Usha Vance appeared alongside US First Lady Melania Trump during their visit to Camp Lejeune, a military base earlier this week. However, one thing was missing – Vance’s wedding ring on her finger, which created a lot of buzz about Usha and JD Vance’s marriage.
On Friday, a spokeswoman for the second lady said in a statement to USA TODAY that Vance is “a mother of three young children who does a lot of dishes, takes a lot of baths and occasionally forgets her ring.”
Social networks are responding
Usha Vance’s wedding ring-less appearance drew swift reactions online, including from several Democratic strategists.
Adam Parkhomenko commented: “Interesting. Usha Vance without her wedding ring at Camp Lejeune yesterday.”
Meanwhile, several others reacted to the ‘Family Guy’ cartoon meme photo.
Speculation regarding the state of JD Vance and Usha Vance’s marriage comes days after a hug between Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk and the US vice president went viral on social media.
Erika Kirk and JD Vance embrace
During an event in Mississippi — earlier this month — when Erika’s hug with JD Vance went viral, Erika’s emotional speech drew attention as she compared Vance to her late husband.
“No one will ever replace Charlie, but I see some similarities to my husband in JD, JD Vice President Vance,” she said as she introduced him to the podium.
After their embrace sparked a lot of chatter on social media, Erika posted an emotional clip in which she said: “Cameras were everywhere after my husband when he was murdered. Cameras were all around my friends and family, grieving. Cameras were all around me – analyzing my every move, my every smile, my every tear.”
Note by JD Vance on Usha Vance
Last month, JD Vance sparked outrage after he said he hoped his wife, second lady Usha Vance, would convert to Christianity. JD Vance spoke at the Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi, where he delivered remarks while addressing the crowd.
When asked about his wife’s religious background, JD Vance said that she grew up in a family that wasn’t particularly religious, and that the two had open conversations about how they planned to raise their children.
“Usha goes to church with me most Sundays. I hope she eventually feels the same way I did? Yes. I sincerely hope so. I believe in the Christian gospel and I hope my wife eventually sees it the same way,” Vance said.
