Kakinada District Irrigation Advisory Council (IAC) has geared up to provide irrigation to more than 1.90 lakh acres of area in rabi season 2025-26.
The IAC, chaired by Kakinada District Collector S. Shan Mohan, has prepared an action plan for the 2025-26 rabi season, which will begin from the first week of December. Mr. Shan Mohan said that more than 1.9 lakh acres of area would be guaranteed for irrigation facilities; 1.05 lakh acres from the Godavari delta system, 32,000 from the Pithapuram branch canal and the rest is from the Yeleru irrigation system.
“Water will be released from all the three sources from the beginning of December, which will enable farmers to prepare for growing crops of their choice,” the district collector said.
Former East Godavari Zilla Parishad Chairman Vipparthi Venugopal, Kakinada Member of Parliament T. Uday Srinivas and MLAs also participated as members of the Irrigation Advisory Board.
