The Trump administration appeared to be reaching out to Democrats on Friday (local time) via a cryptic post from the White House X handle.
The White House shared a screenshot of the profile details, posting: “Many are saying…”
The screenshot showed account details showing he joined in January 2025, the month he was president of the US Donald Trump took the lead.
As for the location of the account, the text next to the pin read: “Account established at: Rent Free in Democrats’ Heads.”
“Give them a raise”
While the purpose of the mysterious post and what it was referring to was not immediately clear, netizens pounced on it and praised the account manager for “trolling” the political opposition.
“Another banger from the White House Meme Team!! (sic),” one user wrote, while another said: “Love it!”
“The new White House address is quite spacious, but I’ve heard that the rent is entirely in the minds of the Democrats – and the utilities are apparently paid for with pure political capital,” wrote another, poking fun at the Democratic Party.
“Whoever runs the WH account – deserves a raise! (sic),” another user wrote.
But Democratic Party supporters were not pleased and hit back, saying the bill was set up in “mom’s basement.”
“Funny how these posts scream ‘corruption exposure’ yet offer no evidence. If people really cared about accountability they would demand evidence not political theater,” wrote another user.
The post comes as the White House is releasing more and more “meme-worthy” content, and hours after clips of Trump’s bonhomie with New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani went viral and stunned the internet.
Far from being just a government account for official updates, the White House has been using memes and other viral content in Trump’s second term to rally loyal supporters of the US president and criticize the political opposition.
The White House X handle recently not only reshared posts from Trump and his administration officials, but directly called the Democrats’ video message “outrageous and dangerous,” something the US president said should be “punishable by DEATH.”
