Bhagiratha Mission Deputy Executive Engineer (INTRA) in Jangaon district was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 through a digital transaction.
The accused, identified as 45-year-old Kunamalla Sandhya Rani, was taken into custody by ACB Warangal officials around 5:10 pm at her office in Palakurthy sub-division.
According to the officials, Ms. Sandhya Rani allegedly demanded bribe from the complainant for checking the M-Books measurements and final accounts related to three Mission Bhagiratha pipeline works done in Devuruppula mandal and handed them over to the Executive Engineer. The bribe was allegedly transferred through PhonePe to the mobile number of her personal assistant Mahendar.
Investigators said the complainant forwarded a screenshot of the PhonePe transaction to the officer’s phone via WhatsApp. Sandhya Rani was arrested and produced before a special court for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal. The investigation is ongoing, the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB urged the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made through WhatsApp, Facebook or X with an assurance that the identity of the complainants will be kept confidential.
