A boy was run over by a school van near Sholinghur

A two-year-old boy was run over by a school van at Pudukudiyanur village near Sholinghur town in Ranipet on Wednesday.

Police said the deceased was identified as K. Hemnath, son of S. Kathirvel (35) and K. Monisha (31). The couple also has a daughter, K. Porkodi (5).

Police said that on the day of the incident, Monisha had left her son Hemnath alone to fetch Monisha, who had alighted from her school van. Meanwhile, Hemnath crawled onto the road. School van driver V. Prakash (28), who was unaware that Hemnath was on the road, ran over the boy.

Passers-by and other motorists rushed to the scene and captured the van driver. After being informed, the Sholinghur town police inspected the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem to Government Taluk Hospital, Sholinghur. A case has been registered. A probe is underway.
