Annapurna Yojana scheme: Bengal CM says more than 29 lakh women have received or opted for financial assistance | Today’s news
Annapurna Yojana Scheme: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said a total of more than 29 million women have either already received financial assistance under the state’s Annapurna Yojana or are ready to receive financial assistance. Each recipient will receive ₹3000 per month under this scheme of West Bengal Govt.
Adhikari said the cash scheme, which he launched on June 3, has been implemented in phases and more beneficiaries are being added after verification.
The Annapurna Yojana, one of the key promises made in the BJP’s election manifesto, replaced the previous TMC government’s ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme, under which women beneficiaries received a maximum ₹1500 per month.
“On June 3rd ₹3,000 each were credited to the accounts of 28,000 women. Another 1,05,000 women have signed up for the Annapurna program so far. Their verification has been completed and the data has been uploaded to the portal. They will receive ₹3,000 for the month of June on July 1,” Adhikari said at a program in Falta in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on June 17.
The Chief Minister added that the combined number of beneficiaries already covered and those added recently totaled more than 29 million women. He said those who are yet to apply will not be left out of the scheme.
“Those who are still left should go to the public welfare camps and fill the forms. Government officials will help them. If necessary, help will also be provided through door-to-door visits,” he said.
Annapurna Yojana Programme: West Bengal Budget on 22 June
Adhikari also said that the BJP government will announce more welfare schemes in the coming days. The state budget, the first of the new BJP government in West Bengal, will be presented on June 22.
“Several schemes will be announced for the youth, civil servants and educated job seekers. Since the budget is yet to be presented, I cannot give details at this stage. Important initiatives for farmers are also planned,” he said.
The Prime Minister added that the government remains committed to fulfilling its promises to the people.
People gave us this mandate with hope and trust. We will keep that trust.
