Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s office clarified that Karnataka has decided to submit a “revised DPR” (Detailed Project Report) to the Center with respect to the Mekedatu Reservoir Project and not a “fresh DPR” as reported in these columns on Tuesday.
In a clarification issued on Wednesday, K. Jayaprakash, Technical Adviser to the Deputy Chief Minister, said, “Since the earlier DPR submitted to the CWC on January 18, 2019, was formulated on the basis of the Scheduled Rates of 2018-19 and the same was not taken up for the consideration of the CWC in view of the Supreme Court judgment being clear and the administrative and legal constraints are now clear. (November 13, 2025) Karnataka has decided to submit a revised DPR that properly updates the costs as per the current rate schedule (price level 2025-26)”.
He further clarified that “there is a need to prepare a revised DPR based on the current schedule rates. Though the earlier DPR is still with the CWC, it is yet to be scrutinized and was based on the old schedule rates i.e. 2018-19”.
The Deputy Minister’s office has now made it clear that the DPR has not been rejected.
