Bans around Vidhana Soudha ahead of MLC elections

Bengaluru Police issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) within one kilometer radius of Vidhana Soudha to ensure law and order, security and smooth running of the MLC election process scheduled on Thursday.
City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh issued the order on Wednesday. According to the order, no processions, rallies, demonstrations, protests, victory celebrations, public gatherings or gatherings will be allowed in the restricted zone. Gatherings of more than four people were also prohibited, except when specifically exempted by the relevant authority.
The police further tightened access to the Vidhana Soudha premises. Entry will only be permitted on the basis of valid passes and unauthorized persons will not be allowed inside. Access was restricted to Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs), Members of Parliament (MPs) and authorized officers and staff working in the Vidhana Soudha. Voting and counting agents with valid authorization will also be allowed entry.
