Several top Maoists, including the most wanted Madvi Hidma, who was killed in an encounter in Maredumilli Agency on Tuesday, have entered Andhra Pradesh state to revive their movement in Andhra Pradesh after suffering a fatal blow in Chhattisgarh state.
In the state of Chhattisgarh alone, at least 252 Maoists have been killed in clashes since January this year. As many as 223 of them are from Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. In 2024, security forces killed 219 Maoists in Chhattisgarh.
Andhra Pradesh Intelligence chief Mahesh Chandra Laddha said here on Tuesday, “Two days ago, we received specific intelligence that several top Maoists, including Madvi Hidma, were planning to enter Andhra Pradesh to revive their movement.
“Subsequently, we launched a combing operation during which six Maoists, including Mr. Hidma, were killed in an encounter in response to intelligence inputs about the movement of Maoists along the tri-state border,” said Mr. Mahesh Chandra Laddha.
Watch out for cities
So far, we have arrested 31 Maoists during raids conducted simultaneously in the Krishna and Godavari regions, including the cities of Vijayawada, Kakinada and Eluru in Andhra Pradesh. Nine of them are from the protective wing of CPI (Maoist) central committee member Thippiri Tirupathi alias Devuji and others are South Bastar zonal committee members,” said Thippiri Tirupathi took charge of CPI (Maoist) general secretary after Nambala Keshava Rao was killed in an encounter in May 2025.
“A group of 31 Maoists were trying to find shelter to revive their movement in Andhra Pradesh,” said Mahesh Chandra Laddha.
