
A special NIA court at Delhi’s Patiala House Court on November 18 sent Jasir Bilal Wani alias Denmark to 10-day custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a terror probe, ANII reported.
The agency produced Danish before the court today and said it was investigating him in connection with the November 10 Red Fort blast, it added.
Jasir was arraigned, the Patiala House Court along with other district courts in the city received bomb threats which later turned out to be a hoax. The premises of Patiala House Court, Rohini Court and Saket Court were evacuated and a thorough search was conducted by the security personnel.
What happened in court?
Hearing the case in a closed courtroom, Chief District and Sessions Judge (Special NIA Judge) Anju Bajaj Chandana remanded Wani to NIA custody.
According to judicial sources, the NIA submitted to the court that they needed his custody to uncover a larger conspiracy behind the November 10 hoax near the Red Fort in the city.
The NIA said the aim of the blast was to create terror and panic in the minds of the people of the country and also threaten public order.
While seeking remand, the NIA also highlighted the role of Jasir alias Denmark, who they said was a drone expert and was contacted to design the precise missile.
The NIA continues to investigate various angles to unravel the conspiracy behind the bombings. Several teams of the counter-terrorism agency are following several leads and conducting a cross-state search to identify all those involved in the terror attack.
Who is accused Jasir Bilal Wani alias Dan?
Jasir, a resident of Kashmir, was arrested yesterday from Srinagar by an NIA team that was in the Kashmir Valley.
The NIA said in a press release that investigations revealed that Jasir allegedly provided technical support to carry out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to manufacture missiles before the deadly car bomb blast that killed 15 people and injured several.
The accused, a resident of Qazigund in J&K’s Anantnag district, was an active co-conspirator behind the attack and worked closely with terrorist Umar un Nabi to plan the terror massacre, the NIA said.
