The rift between US President Donald Trump and Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene escalated into a public spat as the president called her a “traitor” and a “lunatic”.
In a post on social media TRUTH on Monday (Nov. 17), Trump attacked Greene, saying: “Wacky Marjorie ‘The Traitor’ Brown (Remember Green is going by Brown where ROT is involved!) is working overtime to try and portray herself as the victim when in reality she is the cause of all her own problems.”

“The fact is, nobody cares about this Traitor to our country,” Trump wrote.
His statement came after Marjorie Taylor Greene gave an exclusive interview to CNN where she claimed threats to her life and assured her support for the Trump administration.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: From pro-Trump to his critic
Firebrand Greene, 51, was until recently a staunch pro-Trump supporter — and when he addressed Congress in March, he wore a “Trump was right about everything” hat.
She has since split with him over a number of issues, and Trump expressed his frustration with her for the first time on Monday, saying she had “lost her way.”

The first signs came when she broke with other Republicans over the summer when Greene called Israel’s war in Gaza “genocide.” She also criticized health care and the cost-of-living crisis in particular, telling Trump to focus on the “home front” instead of foreign policy and peace deals.
Perhaps the most sensitive area of criticism has been Greene’s stance on the Epstein scandal, which has ensnared Trump again in recent days with the release of a new trove of emails.

Known for her scathing comments about Democrats and journalists, Greene previously made a name for herself as a fierce defender of Trump’s policies.
It has also embraced QAnon conspiracy theories and in 2018 claimed that the California wildfires were started by a space laser controlled by the Jewish Rothschild family.
Greene’s sudden shift sparked speculation that she was preparing for her own presidential bid in 2028, although she dismissed it as “baseless rumours,” the AFP news agency reported.
Greene: ‘My life in danger, I still support the Trump administration’
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says President Donald Trump is threatening her life by calling her a traitor to the GOP amid the conflict on social media.
Greene said she stood with President Trump when almost no one else would. “I campaigned for him all over this country and spent millions of my own dollars to help him get elected,” she said.

Greene said being called a “traitor” isn’t just hurtful, it “puts a target on my back and threatens my life. And it divides our country even more.”
“But despite that, I still support the Trump administration and want it to succeed for the American people,” she added, adding that she believes in transparency.
In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” on Sunday, Greene said she fears Trump’s rhetoric toward her could lead to violence against her.
“The most hurtful thing (Trump) said, which is absolutely untrue, is that he called me a traitor, and that’s so extremely wrong,” Greene said, “and those are the types of words used that can radicalize people against me and threaten my life.”
Trump says he doesn’t think anyone cares about her
Trump doubled down on his attacks against Greene on Sunday, rejecting her claims that his criticism threatens her and saying he does not believe she is being targeted.
“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene,” he said, referring to the lawmaker.
“I don’t think her life is in danger … Frankly, I don’t think anyone cares about her,” the president told reporters before boarding Air Force One Sunday night to return to Washington, DC from his Mar-a-Lago social club in Florida.
Trump’s repeated insults against Greene – “screaming lunatic”, “traitor”
On November 15, Trump announced that he was withdrawing his endorsement and that of “Congresswoman” Marjorie Taylor Greene of the Great State of Georgia.
“All I see ‘Wacky’ Marjorie doing is COMPLAIN COMPLAIN COMPLAIN!” Trump said this in a post on his social network Truth.
He said the rift began when “I sent her a poll saying she shouldn’t run for senator or governor, she was at 12% and she had no chance (unless of course she had my endorsement – which she wasn’t going to get!).”
“She has told many people that she is upset that I no longer return her phone calls, but with 219 congressmen/women, 53 US senators, 24 cabinet members, nearly 200 countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I cannot take calls from lunatics every day,” Trump wrote.
The US president criticized Greene, saying: “She went way to the left, she even did The View, with their low IQ who hate Anchors.”
Later on Nov. 16, Trump said, “Lightweight Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Brown (Green grass turns brown when it starts to ROT!), betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned left, mismanaged a pathetic View, and became the RINO we all know she always was.
“Just another bogus politician, none other than Rand Paul Jr. (Thomas Massie), who has been caught as a full fledged Republican in name only (RINO)! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!,” Trump said.
