Medical shops will remain open in NTR district on May 20 during the nationwide bandh
Officials of the NTR District Drug Control Authority said on Tuesday (May 19, 2026) that necessary arrangements have been made to ensure continuous availability of medicines to the public in the district in view of the proposed nationwide bandh on Wednesday (May 20).
The All India Organization of Chemists & Druggists (AIOCD) has called for a crackdown on illegal online sale of medicines. NTR District Chemists and Druggists Association and Krishna District Wholesale Drug Trade Association are participating in the bandh.
Medical shops at important centers in the hospital campus, clinics and nursing homes, generic medicine shops and MedPlus shops operating in NTR district will remain open, officials said.
Further, all drug inspectors of NTR district have been instructed to closely monitor the field situation and coordinate with health shop operators and hospital authorities to ensure uninterrupted supply and availability of medicines during the bandh period. Emergency contact numbers and lists of operational medical stores have also been arranged for the convenience of the public.
