Nipah: another person on contact list released from Kozhikode MCH

One more person on the contact list of a 43-year-old Nipah patient from Ramanattukar has been discharged from the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kozhikode. The laboratory results of the healthcare worker and the patient’s relative were also negative for the virus.

According to a release from the office of Health Minister K. Muraleedharan on Wednesday (June 17, 2026), only four people on the contact list are now being monitored at the Kozhikode MCH. The patient remains in the hospital on ventilator support. There are 104 people in the contact list. Samples of blood and nasal swabs collected from domestic animals and excreta of bats in bat roosts at Ramanattukara were sent to the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Members of the Indian Council of Medical Research Team discussed with the doctors at MCH.
