President Donald Trump has cut ties with Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was once one of his MAGA supporters, citing her recent criticism of his agenda. Donald Trump publicly called Marjorie “crazy” and said he would back a challenger against her in next year’s midterms “if the right person runs.”
“I am withdrawing my endorsement and support of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene of the great state of Georgia,” Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social late Friday.
What did Donald Trump say?
Donald Trump has explained why he pulled an endorsement from Marjorie Taylor Greene, saying all she does is “complain, complain, complain.”
He said: “Over the last few weeks, despite having achieved record achievements for our country, including a total and complete victory on shutdown, closed borders, low taxes, no men in women’s sports or transgender for everyone, ending DEI, stopping Biden’s record inflation, the biggest deregulation in history, stopping EIGHT WARS, rebuilding our military world country, rebuilding our military world country from the laughing stock we were just a few years ago 12 months!), we’ve invested trillions of dollars (record setting!) in the US and just 12 months ago we made the “WORST” country in the world from being a DEAD country (and so much more!), all I see “crazy” Marjorie doing is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!
Donald Trump also called her a “screaming lunatic” and claimed Marjorie was telling everyone she wasn’t returning her calls.
“It all seemed to start when I sent her a poll saying she shouldn’t run for senator or governor, she was at 12% and had no chance (unless, of course, she had my endorsement – which she wasn’t going to get!). She told many people she was upset that I no longer returned her calls, but with 24 women, 3 congressmen, almost 200 countries, and an otherwise normal life that I can lead, I cannot take the madman’s shrill call every day.’
“I understand that great conservative people are thinking about putting Marjorie in her Georgia primary, that they’ve had enough of her and her antics, and if the right person runs, they will have my full and unyielding support. She’s gone way to the left, even doing The View with their low-IQ Republican hate anchors!” said Donald Trump.
Is it because of the Epstein Files?
Following Donald Trump’s remarks, Greene wrote Friday that Trump “attacked me and lied about me.” She added a screenshot of the text she said she sent to the president earlier in the day about releasing Jeffrey Epstein’s files, which she said was “what sent him over the edge.”
Greene called it “really amazing how hard he’s fighting to keep the Epstein files from being released, that he’s actually going to that level,” referring to the House vote on releasing the Epstein files next week.
Greene’s rift with the party has been building for months.
She ruled out a Senate run against Democrat Jon Ossoff in May, hitting out at GOP donors and strategists who doubted her chances. In June, she already openly supported Tucker Carlson after Trump dismissed him as a “chatter.”
That only intensified in July, when Greene said she would not run for governor. She also later attacked the “good ol’ boy” political system, arguing that it threatened Republican control of the state.
She also called Trump’s implementation of trade tariffs “bumpy.” In addition, Marjorie attacked the Trump administration’s foreign policy. Greene also disagreed with Trump’s claim that inflation is under control, saying Republicans need a plan to address health care costs.
