
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar chaired the Consul Generals’ Conference in New York on Friday and praised embassies and consulates for strengthening Indo-US relations. Jaishankar also reviewed bilateral relations with the US.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said: “Today, he chaired a conference of Consuls General in New York which was attended by the Embassy of India in Washington DC, Consulate General of India in New York, Consulate General of India in Los Angeles, Consulate General of India in Seattle, Consulate General of India in San Francisco, Consulate General of India in Atlanta, Consulate General of India in Chicago and Consulate General of India in India Boston.”
“We have reviewed our bilateral ties and support for diaspora activities. We appreciate the commitment and efforts of our embassy and consulates to strengthen the Indo-US partnership,” Jaishankar wrote on X.
Meanwhile, the Consulate General of India in New York said in a post on X: “The CGI New York team was honored to welcome External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. His vision, leadership and leadership reinforce our commitment to work for the India-US partnership.”
Earlier on Friday, Jaishankar met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York on Thursday and discussed the current global order, regional flare-ups and the role of multilateralism.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said he appreciated Guterres’ assessment of global developments and thanked him for his “clear and consistent support” for India’s growth.
“Delighted to meet UN Secretary General @antonioguterres in New York today. Appreciated his assessment of the current global order and its implications for multilateralism. Also appreciated his views on various regional hotspots. Thank him for his clear and consistent support for India’s growth and development. We look forward to welcoming him to India,” he wrote.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting, which India is participating in as an invited partner during Canada’s presidency.
Earlier, Jaishankar attended the G7 Outreach Session on Energy Security and Critical Minerals. Emphasizing India’s willingness to engage constructively with its global partners, he stressed the need to reduce dependency and increase resilience of supply chains.
Emphasizing India’s perspective, he said India was open to constructive engagement with international partners and emphasized that greater collaboration was the way forward.
