“Six people were killed and nearly 20 others injured after a private bus rammed into a parked truck on a highway in Gujarat’s Vadodara district on Wednesday (June 17, 2026),” police said. The accident took place near Kotambi village on the Vadodara-Halol highway around 4 am

“A luxury bus which was heading from Rajasthan to Surat in Gujarat rammed into the back of a truck,” Vadodara District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sushil Agrawal said. “The lorry was parked on the shoulder while its driver was checking the tire pressure when a moving bus hit it from behind,” he said.

“The impact of the collision was severe and the front part of the bus was completely crushed. Six persons died in the accident while around 20 others sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment,” Mr. Agrawal said.

“Most of the passengers in the bus were from Rajasthan,” the official said. After receiving information about the accident, personnel from Jarod police station in Vadodara rushed to the spot and started rescue operations.

“Considering the extent of damage to the bus, teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have also been called in to help in the rescue,” the SP said, adding that further investigation was underway.
