After the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday appointed four new general secretaries of its Mumbai unit.
Rajesh Shirwadkar, Ganesh Khaparkar, Acharya Pawan Tripathi and Shweta Parulekar have been appointed as general secretaries of Mumbai BJP, according to an official statement issued by Mumbai BJP president Ameet Satam.
The appointment of these four party functionaries is seen as an inclusive representation as Rajesh Shirwadkar and Ganesh Khaparkar are of Marathi origin, Shweta Parulekar reflects the female leadership, while Acharya Pawan Tripathi is from a North Indian background and is the treasurer of the Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Trust. Collectively, it is seen as the party’s effort to reach out to multiple communities in Mumbai, which is essential for the civic body elections.
The State Election Commission (SEC) is yet to announce the municipal corporation elections, while the Nagar Panchayat and Nagar Parishads polls are slated for December 2, for which nominations began on November 10.
