Chennegowda, who essayed the role of ‘Gadappy’ in the award-winning film Thithi, passed away at his native village Nodekoppalu in Mandya early on Wednesday, November 12. He was 89 years old.
Sources said Mr. Chennegowda, who was suffering from asthma and other age-related ailments, injured his hip in an accidental fall about a month ago.
He acted in many other films like Tharle Village, Johny Mera Naam and Halli Panchayati.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy condoled the actor’s death. In his statement, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he was very pained after hearing the news of Mr. Chennegowda’s death. Praying for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace, he said he hoped the Almighty would give strength to the actor’s family members.
