The picture, which shows the Afghanistan T20I captain sitting next to a woman dressed in traditional attire, quickly went viral and sparked rumors of a ‘secret marriage’.

Rashid clarified on Instagram that the woman seen in the viral photo is indeed his wife and that the two tied the knot this August. Sharing a series of wedding photos and a heartfelt note, Rashid wrote: “On August 2nd I started a new and meaningful chapter in my life. I got my nikkah done and married a woman who embodies the love, peace and partnership I’ve always hoped for.”He added: “I recently took my wife to a charity event and it’s unfortunate to see the assumptions made from something so simple. The truth is straight – she is my wife and we stand together, we have nothing to hide. To everyone who has shown kindness, support and understanding, thank you.”Rashid, who chose not to reveal his wife’s identity to respect her privacy, urged fans to avoid spreading misinformation about his personal life. The cricketer had previously married his maternal cousin in October 2024 in a grand ceremony in Kabul where his three brothers were also married.Through his clarification, Rashid also redirected attention to his charitable initiatives, including his foundation’s efforts to improve education, healthcare and access to clean water throughout Afghanistan.
