South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has been named the ICC Player of the Month for October following her prolific run at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Leading from the front, Wolvaardt played a key role in her team’s run to the final and was the tournament’s top scorer.
She made history by scoring the most runs in a single edition of the tournament, scoring 571 runs from nine innings at an average of 71.37 and a strike rate of 98.78. The South African captain etched her name into the record books, After Australia’s Alyssa Healy, she became only the second player to score a century in both the semi-final and final of the same year’s World Cup.
Following her remarkable performance, she was awarded the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for October. Wolvaardt shared her thoughts on receiving the award and said it was an honor to win it after her team’s sensational run at the World Cup.

Muthuswamy was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month
Wolvaardt has climbed to the top spot in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Rankings thanks to her prolific run. Meanwhile, South African spinner Senuran Muthuswamy was named player of the month for October. The left-arm spinner edged out fellow contenders Noman Ali of Pakistan and Rashid Khan of Afghanistan for the prestigious ICC Player of the Month award. The 31-year-old expressed his delight at winning his first ever ICC monthly award.

Muthusamy won the honor due to his exceptional all-round displays during South Africa’s Test series in Pakistan.
