The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has completed seat-sharing for the panchayat elections in Kannur district, with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) fighting for a majority share of 16 seats.
This was announced by LDF District Convener N. Chandran at a press conference on Tuesday (November 11). According to the final list, the Communist Party of India (CPI) will contest on three seats, while the Kerala Congress (M), Janata Dal (S), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Congress (S) and Indian National League (INL) will field candidates on one seat each.
CPI(M) candidates will contest in Karivellur, Mathamangalam, Peravoor, Patyam, Pattayam, Panniannoor, Kadirur, Pinarayi, Peralassery, Anjarakandi, Koodali, Mayil, Azhikode, Kalliasseri, Cherukunnu, Pariyaram and Kunhimangalam. CPI will contest in Kolayad, Kurumathur and Matool. Kerala Congress (M) has been allotted Padiyur, JD(S) Payyavoor, RJD Kolavallur, NCP Kottiyoor, Congress (S) Naduvil and INL Kolacheri.
Seat-sharing discussions were finalized at the LDF district committee meeting held on November 11 under the chairmanship of CPI leader CP Santosh Kumar.
Leaders including KK Ragesh, KT Jose, A. Pradeepan, Joy Konnakkal, KT Suresh Kumar, VK Girijan, KP Prashanth, PK Raveendran and others attended the meeting.
