Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday announced a sanction of ₹358.82 crore for construction of 97 rural roads and 33 bridges across Andhra Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
Addressing the National Watershed Festival held at Vengalayapalem village in Guntur district, Mr. Chouhan said the initiative underscores the central government’s commitment to inclusive growth and justice for tribal communities. The sanctioned funds will be used to improve road connectivity and access to basic services such as electricity, healthcare, education and anganwadi centres, especially in regions inhabited by particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs).
During the event, the Union Minister handed over the official sanction letter to Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development. Dr. Chandra Sekhar thanked Mr. Chouhan for extending generous support to Andhra Pradesh and reaffirmed the Centre’s focus on upliftment of rural and tribal communities.
Mr. Chouhan said the projects are in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘Swarna Andhra’ (Golden Andhra) goal. He added that the tender process will be completed within seven days and all the works are to be completed by 2025-26, paving the way for rapid socio-economic transformation in the remote tribal areas of the state.
