Vellore GH celebrates World Elder Abuse Day

Collector PS Leela Alex inaugurated a human chain at the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Vellore on the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

According to a press release, the event was attended by students, health professionals, health workers and residents to raise awareness about elder abuse prevention and encourage people to respect and care for them. The event was organized by the general medicine and geriatrics department of the hospital.

As part of the event, participants hung posters on them with messages about the rights of the elderly and the prevention of physical, emotional and financial abuse. M. Rohini Devi, Dean, GMCH, Bijin Oliver John, Senior Assistant Professor, Geriatrics Unit, GMCH (Vellore), were present, the report said.
