Preparations for local body elections in Ernakulam district, scheduled for December 9 as the first phase of polling, are complete, officials said on Monday (November 10, 2025), even as the State Election Commission announced the schedule. Voting for the 111 local bodies in the district will be held in 3,014 polling stations, including 2,168 in grama panchayats, 492 in municipalities and 354 in corporations.
“A total of 4,650 control units and 11,660 polling units have been set up in the district. Training for the conduct of elections has been imparted to returning officers, assistant returning officers, local secretaries and block-level trainers,” an official release said.
Elections will be held in 82 grama panchayats, 13 municipalities, 14 block panchayats, one corporation and one district panchayat in Ernakulam. The votes will be counted on December 13.
