The Karnataka Lokayukta police on Tuesday conducted simultaneous searches at more than 35 places across the state in connection with disproportionate assets (DA) cases registered against eight government officials.

Raids were conducted at residences, offices and properties of relatives of the accused officials in Bengaluru city and Bengaluru Rural, Davangere, Kalaburagi and Chikkamagaluru districts.

According to the Lokayukta, the searches revealed movable and immovable assets aggregating over ₹31.11 crore. Assets include residential houses, land, agricultural land, commercial properties, cash, gold and silver ornaments, vehicles, bank deposits and other valuables.

Among the officials wanted were Rajanna SL, Additional Director of Town Planning in the Karnataka Housing Board; Uday Kumar MB, Assistant Executive Engineer, Bescom; Harshavardhan PN, Deputy Conservator of Forests; Siddeshwar N. Hebbal, Chief Mechanical Engineer, NWKRTC; Sanna Kenchappa, Senior Engineer, KRIDL; Krishna Naik LA, Secretary, Bayaluseem Area Development Board; Manik S. Kanakatte, Chief Engineer, Public Works Department; and KS Mohan, Assistant Conservator of Forests.

The Lokayukta said immovable properties worth about ₹22.73 crore and movable assets worth ₹8.38 crore were discovered during the searches.

The highest value property was reportedly found in the possession of Rajanna SL, whose property and valuables were estimated at ₹7.10 crore. Manik S. Kanakatte was found to own assets worth around ₹4.95 crore, while Harshavardhan PN was linked with assets worth around ₹4.85 crore.

Investigators also found substantial amounts of cash, gold and silver ornaments, luxury vehicles and bank deposits at several locations. In one case, officials seized cash worth ₹37 crore and gold and silver ornaments worth more than ₹1.23 crore.

The Lokayukta police said the searches were part of an ongoing investigation into allegations that officials had amassed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. Further review of documents, financial records and property transactions is underway.

The operation is among the biggest coordinated anti-corruption drives by the Karnataka Lokayukta in recent months and is expected to lead to further legal action based on evidence gathered during the raids.
