
All Omni Bus Owners Association, Tamil Nadu on Sunday announced that they have stopped the operation of buses to Kerala and Karnataka as they were unable to bear the cost of paying road taxes in these states.
Association president A. Anbalagan said about 800 buses ply daily from and to these states and about 25,000 passengers are affected by the move.
Kerala omni bus operators have also decided to stop operations as they are unable to pay road tax in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, he added.
Omni bus operators pay road tax and all permit fees in India every 90 days and this amount doubles when they have to pay road tax in other states as well, he added.
