Malappuram district looks set for a hat-trick and leads the third day of the state school science festival with 891 points: a big lead over other competitors with just one day left in the event.
Kannur district was second with 862 points and Kozhikode district was third with 856 points. Thrissur scored 841, Palakkad 827, Wayanad 814, Kottayam and Ernakulam 807, Thiruvananthapuram 804, Kasargod 799, Kollam 795, Alapuzha 768, Idukki 747 and Pathanamthitta 744.
Between individual schools, Government HSS, Konni, Pathananthitta looked set to lift the overall trophy with 108 points. Rajiv Gandhi Memorial HS, Mokeri, Kannur, is in the second position with 97 points.
Mambaram HSS, Mambaram, Kannur stood third with 93 points.
Keep a record by subject
In the science fair, Thrissur led with 174 points and Kannur came second with 166 points. Wayanad was third with 164 points.
In the math fair, Malappuram led with 280 marks, followed by Kasargod with 246 marks and Palakkad with 245 marks.
In the social science festival, Kozhikode was in the lead with 153 points, followed by Kannur with 148 points and Malappuram with 144 points.
In work experience, Kannur led with 205 points, followed by Kozhikode with 203 points and Thrissur with 202 points.
Conclusion
Around 8,500 students from across the state have gathered in Palakkad for the four-day event, which will end on Monday.
The festival showcased students’ curiosity and ingenuity through interactive exhibits, project presentations and hands-on experiments, revealing how today’s youth envision the future of science.
The four-day science mela will conclude with a function at the Government Moyan Model Girls Higher Secondary School here on Monday evening where trophies will be presented to the winners.
Organized under the joint auspices of the Ministry of Education and the Department of Science and Technology, the science fair has become a key venue for developing students’ scientific thinking, organizers said.
