Dr. MN Menon and Dr. Roy R. Chandran were elected state president and secretary of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), respectively, at the association’s 68th state conference in Kozhikode on Sunday (November 9).
Previously, the national president Dr. Dileep Bhanushali inaugurated the conference titled ‘IMACON 2025’. The outgoing state president Dr. KA Sreevilasan.
Kozhikode MP MK Raghavan, who released the IMA yearbook, called for measures to ensure high security in hospitals in the backdrop of increasing attacks on health professionals. “In this new era, health is a mystery. That’s why I introduced a bill in the Lok Sabha to make health insurance compulsory for every new-born child,” Mr. Raghavan said.
Thottathil Raveendran, MLA released a souvenir released as part of the conference. In his speech, he urged the IMA to ensure proper implementation of laws to protect health workers. He also urged doctors to be courteous to patients.
The members were sworn in on the occasion. There was a performance of Chendamelam conducted by Dr. T. Gopakumara. Awards were given to various branches of the IMA for their services.
