Arshdeep Singh said he is working on mastering the art of swing bowling from legendary Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram. The left-arm seamer impressed in the T20I series against Australia, finishing as the fourth-highest wicket-taker with four wickets from two matches, including a career-best 3 for 35 at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Arshdeep revealed that he picked up the wrist flick technique after watching a video of Akram and Mitchell Starc’s masterclass on Fox Cricket during Pakistan’s 2023-24 tour of Australia. He admitted that he has not yet perfected this skill, but continues to work hard on it.
“Nothing fancy – this is just the shiny side of the new ball. It’s a normal grip for an inswinger and for an outswinger I angle it slightly towards first slip and try to flick it with my wrist in that direction. I saw a video of Wasim Akram demonstrating this flick and I’ve been trying to replicate it ever since,” Arshd, but I still haven’t worked on it. Cricket.
ARSHDEEP SEPTEMBER FOR INDIA
Arshdeep has become one of India’s best T20 specialists since his debut. The left-arm pacer impressed with his control, pace and ability to strike at key stages of the game. Earlier this year during an Asia Cup match against Oman, Arshdeep made his mark in the record books by becoming the first Indian cricketer to take 100 T20I wickets, achieving the milestone in just 64 matches – fastest by any pacer from a full member state.
Arshdeep’s greatest strength lies in handling pressure situations, excelling in both power-ups and power-ups. In 68 T20Is, Arshdeep took 105 wickets at an economy rate of 8.36 with two four-wicket hauls to show for his efforts.
