‘Kya kar rahe ho, mat karo’: A teary-eyed Bengaluru woman shares her harrowing experience of being allegedly molested by a Rapido taxi driver while driving in the city centre. In the video, she claimed that the driver of the Rapida tried to touch her inappropriately while driving on Thursday night.
The incident, which reportedly took place on November 6, came to light after she shared a video on Instagram detailing her experience. The Bengaluru city police and Rapido reportedly responded immediately after her post.
Here is what the woman had to say:
“On 06.11.2025, in Bengaluru (Karnataka), I faced something I never thought I would. When I was returning to my PG from Church Street in a Rapido ride, the captain tried to grab my legs while riding,” she wrote in the post.
The woman said it all happened so suddenly that she “couldn’t even process it, let alone record it.” But when he did it again, she said, “I told him, ‘Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho, mat karo’, but he didn’t stop.
“I was scared – I couldn’t ask him to stop the bike because I was new to this place and I didn’t know where I was. When we reached the destination I was shaking and crying,” the woman wrote.
She said a kind man, also seen in the video, noticed her crying and asked what happened. “When I told him, he confronted the captain. The captain apologized and said he wouldn’t do it again.”
However, the woman said that as the Rapid driver was driving away, he “pointed his finger at me in a way that made me feel even more dangerous”.
The woman, who disabled her public comments section, said she shared her harrowing experience because “no woman should have to go through something like this – not in a taxi, not on a bike, not anywhere”.
She noted that this is not the first time something like this has happened to her, “but today I just couldn’t keep quiet because I felt unsafe.”
“Please stay alert, trust your instincts and don’t stay silent,” she urged the other women.
This is how the Bengaluru Police responded to Rapido:
According to media reports, the Bengaluru city police have asked the woman to share details of the incident, including her contact details, to facilitate investigations.
Meanwhile, Rapido also said that they are investigating the matter in detail. “We are concerned to learn of the captain’s inappropriate behavior during your recent ride. Your safety and comfort remain our top priorities. Please allow us time to thoroughly investigate the matter,” the company said.
