Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has strongly warned college managements that they are trying to create unrest over fee payment charges and warned that strict action will be taken if the education of students is disrupted in any way.
Referring to the appeal of the school management over the outstanding reimbursement amounts, the Chief Minister said the government would not tolerate any attempt at extortion in the name of students’ welfare.
“Education is not a business but a service,” said Mr. Revanth Reddy, adding that the government is committed to releasing fees gradually. He said that while there has been a delay in disbursement of funds, it is not a new problem and has persisted for several years due to systemic problems inherited from the previous regime.
He said the colleges were collecting huge donations illegally and the government would not spare them. Such colleges try to play the victim card, and if they continue to donate, he will act. He said that some associations are working hand in hand with political parties to create unnecessary tension.
