Uttar Pradesh Congress leaders on Tuesday (Jun 16, 2026) demanded a time-bound probe by a sitting Supreme Court judge into donations missing from the Ram Mandir trust, alleging “organised looting” of hundreds of crores of rupees by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriyaka SwayayRS nation. BJP-RSS and sold in the name of religion, the opposition party said.

UP Congress chief Ajay Rai said the investigation into the matter by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was a “farce”. “Information coming out about Shri Ram Janmabhoomi shows that there has been an organized loot involving big people and this is said by a former BJP MP himself. Gopal Rao, a member of the trust, was already controversial. Champat Rai Bansal ran away with all the wealth. People with a past in this RSS, including trust in the SIT, have now formed in the government where Anil Mishra was. The matter and he has admitted that there is a huge discrepancy,” said Mr. Rai.

“Earlier, BJP-RSS people collected a lot of money in the name of ‘Shila Pujan’ in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, of which there is no account. This amounts to theft of hundreds of crores of rupees. BJP-RSS stole people’s faith and sacrifices to God. BJP-RSS who committed Shrabho was organized by Ram Janmabhoni. The charge of investigation in SIT has been given to an officer who himself faces Mahakumbh stampede investigation (Jan 2025) In such a situation it is clear that BJP is just going through the formalities (investigation) we demand a time bound inquiry into the matter of this organized loot by a Supreme Court judge.

The corruption in the temple is the responsibility of the BJP government, both at the Center and in the state, as all the appointees in the trust are closely associated with the ruling dispensation, Mr. Rai told The Hindu. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is responsible for this corruption in Ram Mandir. All members of the trust have deep ties with the BJP government. Retired officers served under the PM, RSS people say they are running the BJP government, with the Chief Minister and other functionaries meeting them regularly, so the government is equally responsible for the corruption. This SIT investigation is a farce,” Rai said.

In a related development, Santosh Dubey, who claims to have been an activist in the Ram Mandir agitation, filed a written complaint at the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station in Ayodhya to register a case against Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Trust Secretary Champat Rai and three others namely Anil Mishra and doning Gopal among them. temple. Mr. Dubey, who heads the Hindu Dharma Sena, filed a written complaint with the police regarding the alleged theft of funds donated to the temple.

The complaint was forwarded by the Station House Officer of the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station. Speaking to local journalists, Mr. Dubey said that the individuals looted the money deposited for the temple.

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav blames the growing corruption in the state. “In a state where IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) were supposed to be created for jobs, SITs are being created instead. There is a lot of corruption. Officials will investigate our saints, priests and temple attendants. But who will investigate these officials?…I even asked why the salaries of those serving there (Ram Mandir) have not been increased? If they were paid as much as they thought this month, the president would be paying in that direction. he said.
