The 150th anniversary of India’s national song Vande Mataram was commemorated with enthusiasm at the South Western Railway Mysuru Division on Friday.
Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Shammas Hameed along with other officers and staff participated in the mass rendition of Vande Mataram marking the beginning of a historic year of celebrations.
On the occasion, YM Puttannaiah, a renowned harmonium player, was felicitated by the Divisional Railway Manager for his contribution to Indian classical music and the promotion of patriotic compositions.
A commemoration was held in all the offices and stations of the Mysuru Division, where the officers and staff joined in the mass surrender with patriotic fervour. As part of the celebrations, Vande Mataram was played at railway stations across the division, inspiring a sense of unity and national pride among passengers and railway staff alike.
The celebration is part of a nationwide initiative announced by the Center to celebrate 150 years of Vande Mataram, a timeless composition that continues to symbolize India’s freedom, unity and cultural heritage, the division said in a release.
“The commemoration was a heartfelt tribute to the enduring spirit of Vande Mataram, a symbol of Indian unity and devotion to the motherland. The enthusiastic participation of the officers and staff reflected their patriotic fervor and collective determination to preserve the nation’s rich heritage,” said Pruthvi S. Hullatti, Divisional Chief Financial Officer and Public Relations Officer.
