
The United Democratic Front (UDF) has completed seat sharing for local polls in Kozhikode Corporation in Kerala. Of the corporation’s 76 divisions, the Congress will contest in 49, while the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will contest in 25. The Communist Marxist Party (CMP) will contest in two divisions.
Congress seats include Elathur, Eranhikkal, Mokavoor, Kunduparamba, Karuvisseri, Malapparamba, Thadambattuthazham, Vengeri, Paroppadi, Civil Station, Chevarambalam, Vellimadukunnu, Chelavoor, Medical College, Medical College South, Chevayur, Nellikode, Parahodchery Koti, Kudilthodyan Koti, Kudilthodyan Koti Kuthiravattam, Pottammal, Kuttiyilthazham, Methottuthazham, Mankavu, Azhchavattam, Kallai, Meenchanda, Areekkad North, Cheruvannur East, Cheruvannur West, Beypore Port, Marad, Naduvattam East, Chakkumkamkadavu, Thiyathpalam, Palayam Nadakkavu, Thoppayil, Chakkorathukulam, Karaparamba, East Hill, Athanikkal, West Hill, Edakkad and Puthiyappa.
The seats of IUML are Chettikulam, Puthoor, Poolakkadavu, Moozhikkal, Mayanad, Kovoor, Kommeri, Pokkunnu, Kinasseri, Panniyankara, Thiruvannur, Areekode, Nallalam, Kolathara, Kundayithode, Beypore, Arakkinar, Mukhyankal, Matdikata, Kuttichira, Moonnalingal, Vellayil and Puthiyangadi.
CMP will contest from Naduvattam and Chalappuram divisions.
In the 2020 local polls, the Congress won nine seats including Elathur, Malapparmaba, Paroppadi, Chevayur, Mankavu, Kallai, Chalappuram, Valiyangadi and Nadakkavu while the IUML won five seats including Kinasseri, Thiruvannur, Kuttichira, Moonynalingal and Vincella. The UDF had a total of 17 seats, including the support of three independent councillors.
