In the 14th over, Gill was adjudged LBW while attempting to bowl Marcus Stoinis. The batsman checked the call immediately and the records confirmed a clear inside edge. The decision was overturned, but the delivery was still scored as a dot.On his YouTube channel, Pathan said: “If you appeal and the umpire gives it and the bat is reviewed and if it goes outside the leg stump it’s not out. The ball takes the pad and goes but you miss that run and you have to go back on strike because the check was taken.”He added that such moments can have serious consequences in key matches. “You keep the game going and you don’t miss a run. Otherwise every team misses a run. Just imagine, it’s a World Cup final and you lose by one run and this could be the run. The ICC needs to change this rule. If it doesn’t, it will be a problem,” Pathan said.Reflecting on India’s 48-run win at the Gold Coast, the former cricketer praised the team’s all-round effort. “The Indian team is such that if you doubt them even a little, they will grind it out and move forward. It was a fantastic win on the Gold Coast,” he said, appreciating the contributions of Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Shubman Gill.Meanwhile, former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has backed Gill to bounce back from his lean run, calling him “ridiculously talented”. Watson said: “It takes time (to adjust) … but Shubman is a ridiculously talented batsman. He has amazing technique.”
