Govt. play with future 30L students by deferring payment of fees
HYDERABAD
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) floor leader in the Assembly T. Harish Rao alleged that the state government was playing with the future of about 30 lakh students by delaying the release of ₹19,000 crore fee payment due to which college managements were refusing diplomas and post-graduate certificates even after completion of courses.
Addressing a party meeting held at Alganur in Manakondur constituency of Karimnagar district on Tuesday, he said the BRS government has released ₹19,500 crore for the fee reimbursement scheme for nine-and-a-half years, including two years hit by Covid, demonetisation and other hurdles. However, the Congress government, which assumed office in December 2023, has not paid anything to refund the dues.
At the same time, the government regularly billed the contractors for “10% to 15% commission” because the relaxation of fees for the education of SC, ST and BC students would not gain anything for those holding positions in the government, Mr. Harish Rao said. Regarding Rytha Bandha/Bharosa, he said the Congress government had rejected ₹19,000 crore for three seasons.
Besides, the farm loan waiver remained incomplete and increased social security pensions still remain a mirage. Also in the case of unemployed youth, the government has filled only 16,000 jobs against a promise to fill 2 million jobs in the first calendar year alone (2024).
