A booth-level officer who circulated the enumeration form for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll to voters in Neyveli in Cuddalore district on Tuesday.
The door-to-door enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list began in nine assembly constituencies of Cuddalore district on Tuesday.
The SIR works to ensure the accuracy of electoral rolls by identifying the names of absent, displaced, deceased or duplicate voters and by collecting data on newly eligible voters. The exercise would take place with 1 January 2026 as the qualifying date and anyone who reaches the age of 18 on that date can apply to be included in the electoral rolls.
District Electoral Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar said a total of 2,313 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to all polling stations in Cuddalore constituency for the counting, which will take place from November 4 to December 5.
The BLO will visit the homes of all voters appearing in the existing electoral rolls three times to distribute census forms. Every voter whose name appears in the list will have to fill up the forms and submit them to the BLOs. BLOs will assist voters in matching either their name or their relative’s name in the last SIR held in 2002.
If voters’ names were found in the 2002 electoral roll, details should be given on the census forms. The enumeration forms, printed in Tamil, will contain the names of existing voters and an old photograph. Any adult family member can fill in the details in the form, including date of birth and mobile number. They would have to attach a recent color photograph to the forms.
The draft voter list will be published on December 9. Complaints and objections can be filed between December 9, 2025 and January 8, 2026. Proposals will be considered from December 9 to January 31, 2026, and the final voter lists will be published on February 7 next year.
The Collector appealed to the public to use this opportunity to update or include their names in the electoral roll.
