Saifabad police arrested three men for abusing and pushing a 62-year-old advocate on the platform at Lakdikapul Metro station after he asked them to vacate a seat reserved for senior citizens. The incident, which was reported on October 21, sparked outrage among commuters.
The accused have been identified as Sivvala Sunil Kumar, 32, Sivvala Rajesh, 34, and Kalishetti Ashok, 34, all residents of Nizampet in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
According to the police, the complainant G. Krishna Kishore, a resident of Begumpet, boarded the Ameerpet metro at around 6 pm. The accused were sitting in a section reserved for senior citizens. When Kishore asked them to vacate the seat, they allegedly cursed and behaved aggressively. The argument continued till the train reached Lakdikapul, where the trio pushed the complainant onto the platform and injured him.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered and the trio were arrested on November 3. During interrogation, they admitted to occupying the reserved seats and assaulting the complainant. They were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
