Voters can find their designated polling place using the New York State Board of Elections’ polling place finder on its official website. To access your polling place details, you will need to enter your name, postcode, date of birth and county of residence.
Instead of voting
Voters must cast their vote at a designated polling station. During the early voting period, registered voters could vote at any approved early voting location in their county, but that period ended on Sunday.
Polling hours on election day
New York and state polls opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
If you’re in line by 9pm, you’ll be able to vote. Your ballot will be counted even if the polls officially close pending.
What you need to vote in New York
A voter ID is not required in New York.
However, you should bring a driver’s license or other form of identification in case election inspectors need to verify your signature or confirm a name change.
Submission of absentee ballots
Voters can drop off completed and sealed absentee ballots at any polling place in their county or at their county elections office until 9pm on Tuesday (November 4).
When will the election results be announced in New York?
The New York City Board of Elections will begin releasing results shortly after polls close at 9 p.m.
Early results usually come from early voting and mail-in.
But the race between Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa is expected to be close — meaning it could take several hours for final results to be confirmed.
