An Air India flight from San Francisco to Delhi was diverted to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on Monday (November 3, 2025) due to a suspected technical fault after 11 hours of flight.
The airline said the Boeing 777-300 was undergoing checks and was trying to get passengers to their destination.
“On November 2, AI 174 operating from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata made a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia after the flight crew suspected a technical problem en route,” the airline said in a press statement. The plane landed safely in Mongolia.
AI 174 on November 2, which has been flying from SFO to Delhi via Kolkata since the closure of Pakistan’s airspace in April, took off at 14:25 local time but was forced to divert to Ulaanbaatar after 11 hours of flight and almost seven hours before its stopover in Kolkata at 20:45. The scheduled arrival of the flight to Delhi was at 1:40 am on the 21st.
