Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said the police department is exploring legal options to overturn recent orders by the Karnataka State Police Complaints Authority (KSPCA) ordering closure of noise sheets against several alleged offenders, including notorious rowdy bully Sunil Kumar alias ‘Silent’ Sunil.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Singh said that seven rioters in Bengaluru and 66 in Karnataka are affected by the orders directing their names to be removed from the rowdy registers. “We are verifying the documents and examining the legal aspects to cancel the orders. The matter is also being taken up with the state police chief to get necessary instructions,” the commissioner said.

When asked about the measures taken to curb rowdy activities, Mr. Singh said the police had effective mechanisms in place but declined to divulge details.

The development comes after the KSPCA ordered the closure of the whistle-blower filed against ‘Silent’ Sunil, citing procedural lapses by the police and non-compliance with directions laid down by the Karnataka High Court. The order was passed by a three-member bench headed by NK Sudhindra Rao along with member Mohan Kumar Danappa and member-secretary Devajyoti Ray.
