Just a day after India women created history by winning their maiden ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stepped forward to honor their domestic champions. The board announced cash awards for captain Harmanpreet Kaur and all-rounder Amanjot Kaur along with the team’s fielding coach Munish Bali, recognizing their key role in India’s winning campaign.
According to the announcement, Harmanpreet and Amanjot will receive Rs 11 crore each, while Munish Bali will receive Rs 5 crore for his contribution to the team’s success. PCA also confirmed that a special ceremony will be held soon to celebrate the trio’s achievements.
Harmanpreet, who hails from Moga, led India with poise and determination to lead the team to their first ever ODI World Cup crown. Amanjot Kaur, the young all-rounder from Punjab, has impressed with her consistent performances throughout the tournament, while Bali’s influence as a fielding coach has been key to the team’s sharpness and discipline in crunch moments.
PCA President Amarjit Singh Mehta along with Honorary Secretary (Acting) Siddhant Sharma appreciated the contribution of the trio and noted that their performance brought exceptional pride not only to Punjab but to the entire Indian cricket fraternity.
“This World Cup win is a moment of immense pride for the entire nation and we at PCA are especially delighted that the key members of this historic achievement hail from Punjab,” Mehta said. “Their commitment and performance have brought great glory to our state and Indian cricket.”
The PCA step comes shortly after BCCI has announced a prize money of Rs 51 crore for the entire team and support staff for their World Cup triumph in Navi Mumbai.
