A special Lokayukta court recently convicted KB Ramakrishna Reddy, divisional traffic controller of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation in Yeshwantpur, in a disproportionate assets case.
He was sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹70 million.
A team comprising Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police CW Poovaiah Reddy and Inspector KS Muniyappa raided Reddy in March 2014 and filed a charge sheet against him.
Investigation revealed that Reddy owned movable and immovable assets totaling ₹ 61.4 lakh, which was 29.8% more than his known sources of income.
The trial was held at the 23rd Additional City Civil and Sessions Court, which found Reddy guilty. The court also ruled that if he does not pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional six months of simple imprisonment.
